ITV viewers slammed The Fortune Hotel and fumed it was an ‘absolute carbon copy’ of the BBC show The Traitors as they watched the first episode on Monday night.
Dubbed as the newer, glossier and more charming version of The Traitors, the show sees its participants having to lie to each other, take part in challenges and figure out who the betrayers are as they stay in a luxury Caribbean resort.
The show whisks ten couples away to the fancy hotel to give them the chance to win £250,000.
The couples will be handed a briefcase each – with only one holding the cash inside. Each day the contestants will compete in challenges to try and uncover who has the all-important case.
But those watching the show have said it will ‘never compare’ to The Traitors which has had two seasons and is a murder mystery show set in a Scottish castle.

On the show each day the contestants will compete in challenges to try and uncover who has the all-important case.
At the end of the day the couple are then able to swap or keep their cases.
The couple with the cash must lie and bluff their way out of suspicion – with one case holding an early checkout card too.
The eight-episode series features couple commercial director Claire, 43, and barrister Daniel, 43, both from Gloucestershire.
Claire said they took the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone.
‘We always embrace adventure and wanted to do something together,’ she said.
‘The opportunity to do something outside of your comfort zone is always a good thing.’
Her husband Daniel said taking part in the show tested their relationship at times too.
‘I’d say all of the challenges, it was a real bonding experience for everyone, the sun was shining, we were all buzzing and it gave us a chance to all really get to know each other,’ he said.
‘There was also a funny moment when Claire and I fell out with each other as she wasn’t happy with how competitive I was, although I reminded her that the whole point of the show is to compete.
Host Stephen Mangan, an actor and comedian, said taking up the new gig was a no brainer for him.
‘The opportunity to head to the Caribbean sounded very interesting on its own before you even get to what else is involved,’ he said.
‘That’s the thing that first got my attention but when the game itself was explained to me and I played it, it’s just brilliant.
‘The game is pretty simple but endlessly fascinating so a combination of that alongside the backdrop in which it was set was just pretty irresistible.
‘People are endlessly fascinating to me as an actor and the reason you become an actor is because people and how they get on with each other, especially in moments of high stress is deeply fascinating.
‘Human beings are complex and interesting so The Fortune Hotel felt like the perfect mix of entertainment and drama. It’s a way of putting people together under pressure set amongst a stunning location.
‘The whole package was just incredibly intriguing to me so I had to be a part of it.’
