Angel Reese’s life literally revolves around the ball. And some recent events ably reflected this rebounding reality. Apart from cheering her sibling’s latest court exploits, the Bayou Barbie lately threw her weight behind her injured boyfriend. And while she was boosting the morale of her loved ones, her mother defended her daughter’s alleged suspension following her mysterious 4-match disappearance from the LSU camp. These events showcased the fact that the ball isn’t alone in her court, but in her world too.

Angel Reese’s boyfriend, brother and mother are all major basketball players and have made a name for themselves in their own right. A detailed look at her family only reassures the fact that Reese was meant for basketball glory.

Reese has a cousin in the New Orleans Pelicans star Jordan Hawkins. Like Reese, Hawkins was also born in Maryland and grew up there. Reese even wished him luck during last year’s March Madness when Hawkins had guided his team to the Final Four.

Coincidentally, both the stars won the 2022-23 NCAA Championship bringing home the the trophy. While Hawkins represented the University of Connecticut Huskies, Reese was having the time of her year with the Louisiana State University Lady Tigers. The ‘NCAA March Madness’ official X handle also posted a video of the two.

Mikael Hopkins
Mikael Hopkins is Angel Reese’s stepbrother. He was born in Hyattsville Maryland and attended the DeMatha Catholic High School. Hopkins played for the Georgetown Hoyas men’s basketball team from 2011-2015.

Overall, Hopkins averaged 4.9 points with 3.8 rebounds per game. Unfortunately, he was undrafted in the 2015 NBA and hence started his career with the overseas league of Turkey.

Julian Reese
Angel Reese has a younger brother who plays for the Maryland Terrapins. While Angel decided to move to the LSU Tigers after the 2021-22 season, Julian chose to stick to the Terrapins and make his legacy there.

Like Angel, Julian attended the St. Frances Academy in Baltimore and was a four-star recruit. He calls his elder sister his best friend and regards her as a role model. He used to compete with Angel in the driveway when they were kids.

Angel too showers love on Julian through her playful banters with him. She recently shared a story on the social networking platform Instagram where she called his practice session dunk “weak”. The duo reportedly train together during the off-season while sharing their individual experiences when playing the regular season.
Angel Webb Reese
Angel Reese’s mother goes by the name Angel Webb Reese. Webb left an indelible mark when she used to play for the University of Maryland-Baltimore County where she smashed 1390 points and seized 932 rebounds. Webb Reese also went to Luxembourg to play professionally before coming back to the US.

As per Just Women’s Sports (h/t: ghlinks) Angel grew up watching her mother play in local leagues. Her mother coached both her kids and made them practice in the driveway. She inculcated in them the qualities of discipline and hard work from a young age.

“I used to go to my mom’s games when I was younger. She used to play in a little league, and I used to always go watch her games on Sundays. That was something that was always inspiring to me,” Reese says as per Just Women’s Sports (h/t: ghlinks) “She’s always been independent and she molded that into me. I am who I am because of her.”

Kateri Poole
Reese has another close friend in the LSU Tigers guard Kateri Poole. Poole was born in New York and had befriended Reese in high school. Poole attended the Monsignor Scanlan High School. Poole influenced Reese’s decision to transfer to the LSU.

While Reese was a member of the Maryland Terrapins, Poole was playing with the Ohio State till her sophomore year in 2021-22. Poole convinced Reese to visit the LSU together and they struck an agreement with the head coach Kim Mulkey deciding to transfer to the LSU.

Cam’ron Fletcher
The Florida State Seminoles star Cam’ron Fletcher is another basketball personality in Reese’s life. The duo allegedly had met through basketball and came into a relationship during the pandemic.

The two used to post pictures with each other which led to the media speculating if they were in a relationship. Reese confirmed the same in June 2023 through the ‘1 Star Recruits’ podcast. “Cam’Ron is boyfriend, yes,” Reese had stated.

The two have often been spotted training together at the LSU gym. The Maryland-born also showed her support for Fletcher on her Instagram story when the latter was recently injured during a game against the North Carolina Tar Heels. The couple have thus shown that they are quite compatible with each other.
