Jennie Bond also revealed the impact the positive reaction the King received when he opened up about his cancer made would’ve had on Kate

Kate Middleton and King Charles are “seeking solace and comfort from one another” and will be each other’s “shoulder to lean on” after both being diagnosed with cancer, a royal expert has claimed.

The Princess of Wales, 42, who had been recovering from major abdominal surgery in January 2024, announced her health battle in a heartfelt video just over a week ago in which she revealed her “huge shock” after post-operation tests revealed she had the disease.

As she sat on a bench surrounded by daffodils at Windsor Castle, Kate reassured the world she was “going to be OK” and explained how she’d taken time to explain the news to her three children – George, Charlotte and Louis – in a “way that was appropriate for them.”

The announcement came just months after King Charles revealed on Wednesday, January 17, that he had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and was set to go to hospital.

At the time, the palace said his condition was “benign” and he would undergo “a corrective procedure”.

Amid their ongoing health battles, royal commentator Jennie Bond claimed the pair, who have been growing “closer and closer” over the years, will take comfort in the fact they both have a “shoulder to lean.”

The Sun previously revealed King Charles had an “emotional” lunch with “beloved daughter-in-law” Kate hours before she revealed cancer diagnosis.

“Charles and Catherine have been getting closer and closer over the years,” the royal commentator told Bella.

“He’s had a lot of admiration for her, even before they both became ill, but adversity always has the effect of binding people so much closer together.

“Their illnesses are an unbelievable and shocking coincidence, so for them to have each other as a shoulder to lean on must be beneficial for both of them as they go through this difficult time together.”

Following King Charles’ health battle announcements, sources close to him said he was eager to share his diagnoses to encourage others suffering symptoms to urgently seek medical advice.

In the days that followed, a whopping 26,170 visits were made to the enlarged prostate page on the NHS website – a huge increase compared to the daily average of 1,400 earlier in the week.

Jennie believes that seeing the positive reaction that the King received when he opened up about his cancer made Kate feel that “the time has come for her to do the same.”

“Catherine wanted to do it herself and what’s why he saluted her courage,” she added.
