Just a year after LeBron James‘ executive production venture in the Redeem Team garnered a Sports Emmy Award, another one carves a way today.
This time, it revolves heavily around James. On the 9th, the Sports Emmys announced that LeBron’s talk show, The Shop UNINTERRUPTED, is nominated for the Outstanding Hosted Edited Series category.
The series shot its first episode in 2018, within a Toronto-based barbershop, and featured Draymond Green (Warriors), 2 Chainz (rapper), Charles Oakley (NBA legend), Barack Obama (former US president), and numerous notable names discussing topics that matter.
Now, as the venture reaches new heights in 2024, James could not help but share the feat with his fans.
Reposting The Shop’s Instagram story about the nomination, James invited the fans in the wait; for, the star’s past has in part stirred the drive.
“We created The Shop out of a deep love for the barbershop experience,” LeBron James resonated the rooted passion for honest conversations.
“When I was growing up, the barbershop is the first place I ever heard real, open dialogue about things that were going on.
It’s the place where my community could come together and be real,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The recognition marks a successful chain of pivotal events for the crew considering their more recent step.
Prior to launching their 5th season of The Shop, the talk show cut ties with the global telecast giant, HBO, in order to cater to a diverse audience on YouTube.
Moreover, as the Shop builds on its 7th season this year, it launched an exclusive men’s grooming product line.
In their initial launch, the Shop featured 7 products to address skin, hair, and beard health.
Manufactured in partnership with Parlaux and distributed alongside Walmart, the product lines are targeted to capture the true essence of a barbershop experience.
Now, with fate knocking at more success, the group awaits May 21 for the 45th Sports Emmy Awards.
Interestingly, just like the one in the NBA, this James crew is also accustomed to the Emmy finale.
