Gilbert Arenas calls out LeBron James’ bold promise to Son Bronny at USC debut: From hell..
When Bronny James had a cardiac arrest, LeBron James had the worst fear of a father come true. A family man through and through, James was hit hard with reality.
And it was just about then that he provided hints that were the worst fear for Los Angeles and basketball enthusiasts.
But, with Bronny’s subsequent return to health, LeBron was back to being the Lakers’ legend that he is.But he hasn’t forgotten that family is everything.
The 4x champion recently reiterated this when he announced that he would skip the upcoming Lakers game if his son’s USC debut was on the same day. Gil’s Arena cast finds this very hard to believe.
LeBron James’ announcement does not impress Gilbert Arenas
The Gil’s Arena crew, who are not accustomed to diluting their opinions, burst into sarcastic laughter upon hearing about Bron’s plan to miss the next game day.
“You know damn well he ain’t miss no goddamn game, brother! You see, he’s lying because no one heard that before,” Gil replies without missing a beat.
Going further, he says that there is a higher likelihood of King James knowing beforehand what game Bronny will be playing and ensuring it’s not on “game day”. He had made this somewhat controversial decision following the team’s loss to Oklahoma on Thursday.
The 38-year-old father of three had already talked to his teammates in advance about the potential absence.
“Whenever he’s cleared and whenever he’s ready to have his first game, I already told my teammates that if they play on the same day we playing, then I’m going to have to catch them next game,” the 19x All-Star had said.
While it will be a huge disadvantage for the purple and gold, they know Bron enough to understand how much this means to him. It’s clear whatever the situation and the result, they won’t blame James.
The James family had been through hell and back
More than four months back, Bronny had collapsed during a workout on account of cardiac arrest.
They immediately rushed him to the hospital, where the doctors identified a congenital heart defect to be the cause.
The next few days were just a blur of IV tubes, ICU watches, and prayers.
Not knowing what the next day holds, let alone the future, all the James family wanted was for their eldest son to be safe and healthy.
Preparing to follow in his father’s footsteps, Bronny was gearing up for his USC debut.
Since they cleared him to return to normal activities, the 19-year-old was back to pick up from where he dropped off.
Not letting a life-threatening incident scar him for life, Bronny James has proved himself to be just as stubborn as his father, if not more.
And now, the entire family is excited about his debut.
Do you think LeBron James will actually miss a Lakers game to watch his son’s first college basketball game?
