Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever has played five games in the last dozen days
Caitlin Clark has only tasted one victory in her first seven games since entering the WNBA and getting drafted as the first overall pick in 2024.
Coming in as arguably the most hyped female basketball player in WNBA history, critics are starting to chirp about her team’s underwhelming start.
The Indiana Fever are coming off a tough defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces by a wide margin of 19 points on Saturday.
In this game, Caitlin Clark continued to be targeted and was limited by the defending champions to only eight points but she managed to dish out seven assists and grab five boards.
Temi Fagbenle expressed what was on her mind after the blowout loss.
“Seven games in 12 days is no bloody joke. Last night’s game pissed me off tho. Looking forward to running it back. We’re building.” posts Fagbenle.
Against the Aces, Fagbenle was the second top scorer with 13 points behind Kelsey Mitchell’s 16, along with eight boards and two assists. Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull each chipped in with a dozen points.
The Indiana Fever will have three days rest before they host Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks on May 28 at the Gainstbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
The last time these two teams met, the Fever picked up their first win of the season owning a five-point victory, 78-73.
Caitlin Clark reveals the harsh reality of being in the spotlight
Arguably the most popular female basketball player at present, Caitlin Clark has helped attract more eyes to the WNBA after a very successful college career with the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Being the consensus first-overall pick alongside a huge following, the rookie revealed the other side to her popularity.
“Honestly, I feel like I talk to the media more than I get to talk to my own family … which is really kind of sad, in a way. It’s a lot for somebody that’s 22 years old. It can be tough at times,” said Clark at the 10:48 mark.
In the first seven games of the season, Caitlin Clark has averaged 15.4 points, 6.3 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 three-pointers and 1.1 steals. She also shot 37.1% from the field and has 5.3 turnovers per night.
Clark tasted her first WNBA win against the LA Sparks earlier in the season as she tallied 11 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, and one block.
